KDE blocking Shift+F# keypresses

KDE blocking Shift+F# keypresses

Has anybody else here had a problem with KDE blocking Shift+F# keypresses? (as in Shift+F1, Shift+F2, etc)

I'm trying to set up a custom Konsole .keytab file in order to telnet into a local HP9000 server (HP-UX) which requires special escape sequences to be assigned to the Shift+F# keys and for the life of me I couldn't get them to work even though I knew they are correct in my .keytab file. So for grins & giggles today, I thought I'd write a quick and dirty telnet server that would echo everything I sent to it back to me so I could see exactly what I was sending.

As I suspected, all of my regular keymappings are correct, but the Shift+F# keys never send anything. I even loaded up the other .keytab files that had Shift+F# key definitions in them and they don't send anything either. After that, I went looking in Kcontrol -> Regional & Accessibility -> Keyboard Shortcuts to see if I could find anything assigned to these keypresses and I disabled every Shift+F# assignment I found. However, it didn't have any effect at all.

Now for the kicker...The machine also has tightvncserver running on it and if I VNC into that machine from a Windows system, I can send the Shift+F# keys to it and Konsole works like I want it to. But if I VNC into that system from another Linux system running KDE, I can't send the Shift+F# keys at all. So there actually appears to be something in KDE itself that will not allow Shift+F# keypresses.

Would anybody have any idea at all what would be causing this?
