kde and thai language

hello,
i've a problem with thai language support. i'd like to use firefox for reading some thai webpages and openoffice for writing some documents in thai.
unfortunately both of the programs put the tone signs and vowls behind the characters instead above respectively below them.
i've activated the thai language support in kernel, tried all the character encodings in firefox and used the thai keyboard layout for oo, but nothing helped.

thats why i'm looking for some hints or tips. so if there's anyone who solved this problem or have some ideas: i'd appreciate to learn about any kind of experience with asian languages support (also japanese and chinese or maybe korean). :-)

thanks a lot in advance,
frank
