Hi,
I am using kde 3.4 beta 2, installed from the SuSE 9.1 rpms.
When I go to the translucency section in Control Center under window behaviour it gives a short description on how to enable Xcompmgr etc. for use within KDE.
I followed the instructions as written, plus some other tips I found on the web. I have used the kde patched xcompmgr available from
http://baghira.sourceforge.net, plus installed transset.
By running xcompmgr -cfC I can have some nice looking shadows and fading effects, as well as transparent windows using the transset utility. All of this is very smooth and fast.
But the control center still doesn't realise that everything is set up correctly, and continues to display the message saying I don't have xcompmgr support installed.
Any ideas how to fix this, or how to diagnose the problem?
Cheers,
Luke.
