Advanced window settings - undoing
In Kate, I clicked the window's menu and went to Advanced -> Special Window Settings, and set it to remember to be maximized. This functionality seems to be new with KDE 3.3 and seems to replace the simple "Save Window Settings" option that isn't there now. I realized later that this setting applied to all Kate windows, probably because I didn't select the proper "Window Type" on the "Windows Extra" tab.
Now I can't undo the setting. When I go to Geometry the checkbox is no longer checked. How can I undo this so all my Kate windows start in their default settings?
There really should be more documentation about these new window settings...
My first guess is to delete the ~/.kate Alternatively, check control panel => Desktop => Window-specific Settings and delete any kate entry there.
-- rm -fr /etc/whitehouse
-- Gentoo | udev | Xorg 6.8.2 | 2.6.14-r4 | KDE 3.5.0
in KControl, navigate to
Desktop > Window-Specific Behaviour
and delete/modify the unwanted behaviours!
Thanks! The Control Center did the trick.
Deleting ~/.kate seems like it would delete other settings too, wouldn't it?
deleting the .kate folder wouldn't solve your window specific behaviour problems, it would only delete all of your configuration settings for Kate.
hi, this is my first post here
i agree with arichard though. this is a pretty major change from 3.2.3 to 3.3
i cant seem to get these new settings to work. specifically, my issue is with firefox (and probably any other app that has internal popup dialog boxes). if i choose specific window and tell it to remember size and position, all dialog boxes get that same size too. if i choose whole application, that doesnt seem to work right either
why was this changed? the old way in 3.2.3 was so much easier
