Konqueror 3.2.0 hangs when editing file types

I'm using Konqueror 3.2.0 with Mandrake 10.0 Commnity. If I try to edit a file type, then hit the "apply" button, the progress bar for metering the updating of configuration files keeps re-cycling over & over ad-infinitum, taking about 50% longer with each pass. The same thing happens when trying to update with kcontrol / file associations. Anyone know how to fix this?

In the meantime, is there any documentation for the what goes into the profilerc file if I want to edit it? For instance, what do the preference numbers mean? Or what is the difference between a "kde-kate.desktop" and a "katepart.desktop"?
