lost the little "keys" icon on the panel

I'm not sure what I did it but I have lost the little "keys" icon on the panel. It no longer appears then become root for certain appliactions. How do I go about getting it back?

Thanks,

:D Well I finally sorted it out for myself. After much searching I found out what I was missing is called pam-panel-icon. Once I had the name I went to /usr/bin/ found it there. I've got it back running again. But I still don't know how I lost it in the first place.

Thanks,
HD
