Problem with sizing

I have a question.. probably really newb, lol, but I havn't figured out how to fix it: When I increace my desktop resolution in KDE my font sizes in the menus and everything increace... is there a way to turn this function *off* so that my sizes will return to normal and not resize with my desktop?
Its really a pain in the butt to have 1600*1200 with these huge fonts. I would really like every font size to be back to normal. I've looked in my settings and my font sizes are all at default 10 or 12 point, but theyre huge on the screen.
