kmail does not work

I installed KDE 3.1.3 from download.kde.org. Most applications work, but kmail
does not start. If I try to start it from konsole I get: 'relocation error:
kmail: undefined symbol: _8DwString.npos'. Some other applications behave
abnormally: Kghostview has no menu item 'open'. In most of programs menu items
and icons are doubled. What is wrong? And what can I do to make it work properly?
