Upgrade to KDE 3.2 in SuSE 9.0

I am relatively new to linux, but am reasonably familiar with computers and willing to learn. I recently upgraded from KDE 3.1.5 to 3.2 on my SuSE 9.0 system, and have encountered a problem with logging in. Formerly at the KDE login I had the ability to choose whether I wanted KDE, FVWM2, or Gnome as the window manager, but since I upgraded Gnome has been unceremoniously banished from the list. Since I can't access Gnome from KDE, I tried killing the xserver and then running Gnome, but the xserver seems to autorestart in KDE no matter what I do. I want to fix this problem once and for all. Is there a config file somewhere within KDE where I can specify Gnome as one of the options from the selection drop-box? I know where my Gnome path is and everything, I just can't find a way to modify the login menu. If you can help I'd really appreciate it.

Hi mikester :) I am not sure if this will help you out, but I boot my system using runlevel 3. When logged in use: "startx gnome" to access gnome, however the version that I am using is SuSE 8.1. I am not familiar with SuSE 9.0. I hope this helps you out. :D

mikester once you logged in kde, go to control panel and in there go to sessions (i believe as I am not at my system at the moment) where you have kde, all you have to do is add a new one called gnome. That is all I've done in the passed.

If you can't find it let me know and I'll check my settings when I get home.

I just upgraded to KDE 3.2.2 on SuSE 9.0 and I can't figure out how to add Ximian 2 to the KDM login screen. I knew how to do it in 3.1.4, but the options are different in KDE 3.2.2. The session options don't include a way to add a choice, which for Ximian would be "gnome-session". Ximian works fine when I use gdm, and KDE works fine when I use kdm.

Anyone know how to do this in 3.2.2? Thanks...

I've got Suse 9.0 and I would like to force my x to start with gdm instead of kde! How do I do that?
