New device for KPPP?
I am trying to get my Xircom modem working under KPPP. The hardware browser shows the modem as /dev/ttyS4 but that isn't an option for devices under KPPP. Is there a way for me to insert a new device in the list?
You could make a link from /dev/modem to the new device

hi...I have already problem with my modem connection under Mandrake 9.1 ... one thing, what i can, is establish a connection to my provider... this is onply IP adress, that can I ping ... I cannot ping DNS of my provider, but they works... after connection my comp send some control packets to server and server send some control packets to me...and thats all....
...can you help me set my connection..?
...really thanx... :o)
I think that is a routing problem.
The default route shoul point to the IP of the provider side of the PPP link.
Try something like
#> route add default gw IP_of_the_provider

I am having a problem somewhat similar to that reported by park19. In my case the modem is on /dev/ttySHCF0, and it works okay if I create a symbolic link to /dev/modem. However, the link gets broken or overwritten each time the system boots, and I have to re-create it. I wish I knew what is causing this.
