no sound?
hi,
i'm running SuSE 8.1 with KDE 3 with an m-audio delta 1010lt soundcard.
basically, i can see the signal in the mixer panel (envy24) but there is no sound from my speakers.
the same setup works fine on my windows partition
any thoughts?
thanks in advance
hubby
are you running root? if it works in root and not in other user names then its an issue with permissions of your sound device (i get permission issues with /dev/dsp /dev/sound/mixer, the latter is really /dev/mixer so i symlink)
ok,
got sound kind of working with the opensound drivers ($50, ouch)
well to be more exact, i can play audio from the hard drive but not from my cd drive
xmms ses the cd and appears to play, no sound though
again, playing from cd works fine in windows
any ideas?
hubby

under what type of user are you trying this as?
with xmms, it might depend if you have the right codec or libs installed. id query xmms's site www.xmms.org
it seems that i should really research before posting not after!
anyway, it would seem that i need to install cdread for xmms as i don't have an analogue connection from my cd drive to my soundcard.
i plan on trying this tonight
hopefully this information may help anyone else experiencing this problem
hubby
all working now using the cdread plugin for xmms with the cdaudio plug disabled
Try this ;D
If you wanna play audio under XMMS the soundcard might no work. Try Noatun. It's the ideal player for integrated soundcards.
