Requesting Features - How to get attention from developers?

Hello!

I am pretty new to the KDE community (or is it Kommunity? :P )

I noticed that at kde-look.org users often post mockups and suggestions about missing features or interface improvements...
So lately, I thought why not work some of my own ideas out and post them?

(btw, the nick is different, but it's me nevertheless... )

However, since some pointed out they would be glad to see this-or-that in the next KDE release, some question came to my mind:
  • If one is not capable of actively contributing code, how does one get noticed by the developers?

  • How big are the chances, anyway, that KDE developers would ever stumble over such user suggestions in some forum on the net, not to say consider integrating them in KDE?

  • How do feature request get on their schedule?
    Don't they have already enough work with squishing bugs and such?

  • Should I file feature request as bugs, even if they would be very complex and labour-intensive?

Nice ideas!

However the string used as the URL for recent IO slave is not a valid URI.

I am not sure how many KDE developers read kde-look.org, very likely not the ones from the core team.

It might be possible to reach some on IRC or in your case you could discuss it on kde-usability

But anything not reported on bugs.kde.org is very likely lost, as the developers tend to have quite full TODO lists and will only check bugs.kde.org when needing new ideas.

this is a nice idea, esp the way files are shown (eg the pdfs) thats really nice. good mockups too. but I'm no dev, if I was, I'd help out on this ;-)
Hope reiserFS can help (in performance and ease of writing this) and they dont implement a database (like macintosh does) which slows down the whole system and sucks memory.

And I whould love it if this got into KDE 4.... so please continue trying to get some attention ;-)
btw it is already evolving isnt it? you might try to write the idea(s) donw very precise, like how things are done exactly. so they can use it as a whitepaper - it'll save alot time for them. setup a website/wiki for it, maybe even some patches can get posted there.
