Separating taskbar from the panel?

Hi, while looking at some themes on kde-look.org and such, I noticed some people have separated there taskbar from the panel and put it at the top of the screen. How do I do this? I'm on Redhat 9.1 with KDE 3.1-10 Red Hat. I looked under the properties for the tasbar but don't see anything. Thanks.

There's Kasbar that acts a little as you describe.
It shows one big icon for each window.
Right-click the panel -> Add -> Extension -> Kasbar

But there are also other programs that do this,
and I think that's what you've seen on kde-look:
- Superkaramba (http://netdragon.sourceforge.net/)
- Slicker (http://slicker.sf.net)

Both can complement or replace the standard panel (kicker).

Thanks!

That looks like what I was looking for, under that add extension menu there is "external taskbar" as well. That kasbar is kinda cool to, but takes up to much real estate. Thanks!

I really haven't been aware of that!
