KDE Screensavers Don't Work (KDE 3.1, RedHat Linux 9)

Hi:
I just clean installed RedHat 9, including KDE 3.1. The screensavers don't work. In Control Center -> Appearance & Themes -> Screen Saver, no matter which screensaver I choose including blank, the test button does nothing. When I click Lock Screen from the K menu, a blank screen is what I get. I don't like blank screens, I like the KDE screensavers. Any ideas? I searched kb.redhat.com and bugzilla.redhat.com; several bugs were opened with similar behavior in RH8. However, that was with older KDE 3.0 packages which were then updated. The other fixes listed don't work (symlinking /usr/share/apps/kscreensaver to ~/.kde/share/redhat-applnk/System/ , etc.).

but its okay for me because a couple work and i like those ones ;-)
