Why can't liquid be included in 3.1?

The KDE team decided on Keramik as the default theme for 3.1.
While that may (or may not) be a good choice as it does not look too much like somebody else's GUI, Why can't Liquid at least be included as a theme? Not on by default, but at least included?

Scared it looks too much like (copyrighted) Aqua?
Uses too much resources?

I for one use Linux (MDK9) because combined with Crystal Icons and the Liquid Theme is THE killer desktop Eye candy wise. Now, if only the font handling could be like RH8 oh.. wait, we got Texstar...

Well...pherhabs. They could be aware that this could be used as a "promotion" (Like" Hey, we look like Apple, us our product!"), what could cause severe Trouble.
But this is just what I think. And why they don't even include it is what I wonder of, too.
But pherhabs someone responsible of the KDE-Team reads this post and could explain it to us?

why not.

Becoz liquid is a aqua copy .
This means that no distro would distribute KDE anymore.
There are also other reasons like Mosfet not beeing a (core) kde developer anymore.(no cvs access etc)
But the main reason is Apple:)
It is very nice but not original

Hmmm, i have been using crystal/keramik since almost the beginning and i'm getting a little tired of it. Don't know if this will happen to more people later, though.

Hi
me too i'm a little tired of keramic at this point. I'm actually using acqua of aronnax and im waiting for the new liquid version too.
anyway i guess liquid will never be included in kde because of apple macosX. this would cause too many troubles.

hi...

no, not mac osx or something copyright protected is the problem. it's just that the author of mosfet liquid does not want liquid to be included in any kde version. i'm missing my bookmarks, but once in an interview he told, that he offered liquid to the kde team and asked them to put it on their cvs - and they rejected it. then instead keramik was built. now being asked to let liquid become the "official" kde theme, he refuses because of the political reasons mentioned above. he has a few other arguments, just google a bit or look around at mosfet.org.

just to mention: he definitely is a fan of kde and wants the environment to develop. he will always offer liquid as open source and everyone is encouraged to enhance it :-)

for myself: i prefer liquid :-)

keramik used to be my favorite, too. but then i saw liquid. wow... keramik suddenly looked a bit bloated and over-decorated. and yeah, it's such a shame that it's not included with kde.

i also use MDK9, so i have KDE 3.0.3, and therefore i'm stuck with the slightly outdated 0.9.5 version of liquid. but i have no plans to upgrade to KDE 3.1 yet (i'll just wait for MDK 9.1), because even the version ihave still looks wonderful.

even if it's not included in KDE, i wouldn't mind downloading future versions of liquid (btw, http://plf.zarb.org is one of the best places to get themes and other stuff for Mandrake).
