[Kopete] GPG-module and German umlauts

Hello friends,

I'd like to know if there is anybody using Kopete with GPG-module and gets no parsing-errors on messages with special characters like German umlauts?

The problem occurs in the Kopete of KDE3.2 and also of KDE3.3. Plain texts work and also encrypted messages without special characters. But I cannot send readable umlauts and if I receive a message with umlauts I get always a parsing error. Changing the user-character-codification and changing the Linux from Utf8 to de@Euro doesn't help here.

The last version that succesfully worked with umlauts and GPG-encryption was Kopete 0.7.4.

Suse-Liunx 9.2 with KDE 3.3.0

I can: I can send and receive this messages without a problem. Note that I have modified this part of Kopete, but even without modification, it seems to work.

Which protocol do you use (Jabber, MSN, ICQ, AIM, ...)?

You modified but don't modified your Kopete? I do not understand.

I'm using ICQ-protocol, only.
By the way it's Kopete 0.9.0 and the man on the other side is using Miranda, a Windows-ICQ-Client that supports GPG.

I modified it, but I have set the changes back temporairy to check if it works without.

If you enable the history-plugin, you can see what the gpg-dump of the messages you have send. If you decrypt it, you can see if the messages are send corretly (the message with ΓΌ you receive will proberly not available there, due the parse error). Are the messages send correctly?

The message in the history can be decrypted successfully via the KGP-editor.

If I cannot find a solution here, I'm going to downgrade to Kopete0.7.4, which I had done when I tried the KDE3.2.
It is also impossible to ecrypt my outgoing messages with my own key, too. I believe this was in every kopete-version so. Unfortunately also in 0.7.4.

This sounds very much like bug #75497. In this bug report is a possible workable solution.

There is a solution for plain ICQ-messages (setting LANG to de@euro and choosing ISO15 for contact-codification in Kopete, which I'v done).

But I've no problems with umlauts and plain messages. Only GPG-encrypted messages throw a "cannot-parse-error", and only that one with umlauts in it.

I added a comment in the bug-report.

thanks
