[kopete] how do i install in /usr/bin

I'm running mandrake 10. how do i install into /usr/bin and /usr/lib/kde3. that is where kopete was kept when i installed it off the mandrake cd. also, how do i get the command "./configure --prefix=`kde-config --prefix`" to work? when i run it it says i need an an absolute path.

./configure --prefix=/path/you/want/to/install/to
-- rm -fr /etc/whitehouse
-- Gentoo | udev | Xorg 6.8.2 | 2.6.14-r4 | KDE 3.5.0
