Kopete and Yahoo and Gaim
I just started using Kopete last night. I had been using Gaim pretty much since I started using Linux. At first I wasn't impressed because it kept crashing when I added my aim account. However once I removed the long list of buddies I never really talk to anymore. It started working and I like it now.
My question is this. I know that Gaim has been having a lot of problems with Yahoo. They keep changing their protocol and Yahoo hasn't worked on the official release for over a month now. Has Kopete had any of these problems too? If so are they quicker to fix it.
Yahoo has been working fine for me with kopete. The kopete team seems to have gotten their y! protocol working much quicker than gaim has been able to.

perhaps it would do the gaim people some good to work with the kopete people and find out how they got it fixed. I like both programs a lot. Since Kopete has yahoo, I'm using that now.
The gaim devs would never use kopete code just the same as the kopete devs would probably never use gaim code. Even though the code of both programs is free to use under the gpl, the pride factor is too big here as gaim is a gtk/gnome app and kopete is a qt/kde app, and there is much competition between the two desktops right now.
which of the two u like better?
actually i like gaim better- it looks cleaner, more compact,solid;
but i think kopete has more features incl. (the for me not working ) video chat function..
thx
