keep having reset the DSL connection

To All:

I having problems with my DSL connection. I keep
having to "reset" the DNS server. When I reboot,
I can not automatically connect. I keep having to

take PC card out

put the PC card back in

pop up a console

type su followed by password
(log in as root)

type kcontrol
(pop up KDE control center - Lycoris calls it
classic control center)

click Network and Internet Settings
(internet settings)

click Hostname and DNS
(DNS options)

click DNS server (all IP numbers look correct)

click Apply

Then I can connect to the internet.

Unfortunately, then, I can't open other
applications. It'll says "KLaucher could not be
reached via DCOP."

What is my problem? And what should I be looking
at? I would love to not keep having to "reset"
the DNS server each time I log in and avoid this
KLauncher problem as well.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sheng-Chieh

p.s. I have pre-installed Lycoris/LX Update 3 on
this laptop.
