Red Hat and Fedora have shipped broken Kopete/KDE packages in the past.

If I were you, I would go for Mandrake or SuSE :-)

The KDE packages are not broken in rh9 or Fedora Core 1, red hat just uses a different placement of packages. Kopete installs fine on both rh9 and fc1, just remember to compile with --prefix=/usr.

Fedora Core is RedHat supported by it is now a cumunity project. This means that software that makes part of the distribuition is voted by a community and not RedHat.

So, KDE is well supported under Fedora.

Kopete works fine under Fedora. There are even KDE3.2 packages for Fedora that include Kopete 0.8 beta or so (works fine). Nevertheless, KDE3.2 packages have the artwork a little messed up.

Fedora is now an alternative for KDE users although I am looking to change :-).
