kde update suse

I'm running Suse 8.2, installed via the FTP-install.

I'm having trouble with Kopete (see other post), and thought I'd try upgrading my KDE from 3.1.1 to 3.1.4, to see if that makes a difference.

BUT, each time I run Suse's automated online updater, it looks like YAST2 only grabs patches, not upgrades.

Previously, on a different system and distro, I tired to upgrade KDE once, and screwed things up so much I ended up reformatting the drive. I don't want to do that again.

What's a safe, fairly painless way to upgrade my KDE to 3.1.4?

Thanks,
Steve

Go to
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/supplem…update_for_8.2/
download everything from /base and what you want from /applications
Then do:
rpm -Uvh --nodeps --force *.rpm

Worked fine for me.

Greetings,
Jan
