how to install a downloaded software?

see, i used linux redhat9, and i've download wine20030408, how did its wor? how did its installation? well i'am new in linux, as known in windows its use add/remove software, but how its work in linuux? such to install prboom game or other. thank u a lot

Did you download a rpm package from RH9?

If yes, you should be able to install it with the distributions package manager.
If the distributor has configured it for desktop use, you should be able to just click on the file.

I don't have RH here, so I guess it would be something like
#> rpm -i packagename.rpm
on the commandline
