KMail IMAP filters - do they actually work?

I upgraded to 3.2 the other day, and was so impressed with the new Konq that I uninstalled Mozilla. No regrets there, but KMail's not quite up to the standard of the MozMail client.

Before someone shouts bug, my kdepim package is patched against the filter bugs that were causing lost e-mails. But the filters aren't working automatically.

I'm on three mailing lists - Multisync, Bluez and Kde Bluetooth. I have filters set up on the IDs of these lists, and set to filter mail as it arrives. The mail for these lists goes into an IMAP account, and doesn't automatically filter. If I select the messages and hit "apply filters" it works fine, but it won't work automatically. Anything I'm doing wrong?

My other question is about having multiple profiles. I have three IMAP accounts I access, each with a different reply address, and one common SMTP server used for all sending. In MozMail, if I composed a message while in a folder for a certain account, it would set the return address for that account; if this was wrong, there was a drop down I could use to change it. I can't find any such functionality in KMail - is it absent, or am I just not finding it?

Other than that, KMail's proved remarkably usable. I particularly like the colour scheme and the minimise to tray options. However, I do find myself wishing that there was a KNode kpart or something which could be integrated, it's a bit of a pain having to open two programs.

I am not using IMAP, but I think it works the same way, and it works fine on my computer. When you create a filter, you can chose whether it should be applied to incoming message or not. Maybe the option "apply to incoming message" is not checked. Maybe it's not problem, and it's a bug.

Apply to incoming is definitely set. I'll leave this thread up for a few days then file a bug.

I have different "identities" established in kmail as well, and if I right-click on the folder where I filtered the respective mails to, I go to "Properties" (may be different as I am using the German version) and there I find a "Identity" selector where I can choose the appropriate sender address.

This was also implemented in KDE 3.1.x-versions of kmail, but now I am under 3.2.
