kate preferences do not save.

this has baffeled me for a while, and am unsure of the problem.

In kate under the file selector dialogue box i am able to change the view to "small icons" or large icons with or without thumbs. The problem is that i like my icons small, and the application will not save the preferences. Every time that i start the application (kate) i need to set small icons once again.

Does anybody know a solution to this?
