Real name for "kroupware"

Is it decided yet what will be the final name for kroupware. Well, if not, my suggestion would be "Kontakt" or Kontact". That would be good name because kroupware integrates mail-program, calendar program - programs that you will connect or contact to other people. Please, post comments and/or your own suggestions here.

Re: Real name for "kroupware"

kontact is already used: It's the name of the end user
client program that's part of kroupware.
(currently something along the lines of
kmail + korganizer + kaddressbook + knotes)

And then there's the server component kollab.

I don't know of any name for the complete project
(besides the code name kroupware) but I'm not sure we really
need one. AFAIK the client and server components
play well together but either one can be used without
the other, e.g. you can access your email in the imap
account with any imap-capable client (even with
Outlook + commercial imap plugin)

Kontact is not related to kroupware or Kolab.
The Kolab client is a modified KMail with an somewhat integrated KOrganizer.

Kontact is integrating several KDE-PIM components into one shell application

The bynari plugin is needed for the non-email parts, like calendar.

I stand corrected.
I thought Kontact was exactly that client,
because (from the Kroupware FAQ):
"The KDE client side will be based on enhanced versions of KMail, KOrganizer and other KDE components."

Sorry for any confusion about this.

Still, the name is already taken.

Hi,
after talking to Ingo Klöcker at Linuxtag and
reading the kolab homepage it seems to me
I haven't been that wrong, after all. Maybe an
early announcement had put that thought into
my head.

Citing from http://kolab.kde.org/ :
Kontact (KDE HEAD)
Work is underway on a framework called Kontact
(http://kontact.kde.org) that will unify KMail,
KOrganizer, KAddressbook and KNotes into one
KParts based application. This will become the
standard for KDE based mail and form the
next generation KDE Kolab Client.

BTW: The Kroupware project has been completed successfully
and the kolab server and client have just been released!

True.
"will become"

It just isn't the Kolab client part of the kroupware project.

Kontact didn't start with the goal to be Kolab client, but as the Kolab changes to is components are available to the respective projects, they are also available in Kontact, thus making Kontact effectivly a Kolab client.

As Kontact is much better integrated than the official Kolab client, it will replace it once it is released.

I'm kinda confused about all this groupware for KDE stuff, but I read the relase annoucement for Kolab today on Slaashdot.
"Chopsticks require a person to use 64 muscles and 30 articulate movements simultaneously, which also acts in developing brain potential."

"Croup" has some less-than-flattering definitions, viz.:

Yes. That's one of the reasons why the name Kroupware is dead, IMHO.
Another one is that the project that was labeled that way
(think: code name) has been finished.

I think it would be better to only use the name of the products
that are now available: Kolab.
