how we run the mpeg files in linux?
Most people who like nice GUI's choose
xine, the rest will want to use
mplayer (as it is superiour to xine in many aspects). for mplayer there is a great KDE frontend available called
KMPlayer, kxine is also available. KMPlayer has neat features like being able to embed it everywhere, for example Konqueror.

i use redhat9 distribution
One note on xine or mplayer; you should always build these from the source.
IF there's xine or mplayer available for your Redhat 9
by RedHat corporation itself you should not use those as those are most likely to be crippled (some key features being disabled to avoid the chance of lawsuits etc.). Both players provide RPM's if you don't want to compile them yourself.
