File Manager - Super User Mode ( Solaris 9 )

File Manager - Super User Mode ( Solaris 9 )

Having installed the Solaris 9 KDE 3.3.1 package set on my SunBlade 150,
I can no longer use File Manager in Super User Mode :(

I suspect that this might be because the installation requires LD_LIBRARY_PATH
to be set up, and that when you enter the su
environment, all the LD_ variable are removed, for security reasons...

Has anybody else experienced this problem, does anybody have any
ideas for a fix/workaround? :?

If it's really the missing LD_LIBRARY_PATH you could try to set it in root's ~/.bashrc. *If* they are read when you start the file manager in super user mode then this might work. Maybe you also have to substitute "su" by "su -" somewhere to make the system read the config file.

Disclaimer: I don't know anything about Solaris...

I don't have a .bashrc, and I already tried modifying .dtprofile for root :roll:

I have now added links to the required shared objects in /usr/lib
and this works as a suitable work-around
