Hello, I have KDE 3.2 and Mandrake 10.0 OE.
A week ago my USB external zip disk started acting up. Somehow, when I put in a disk, a new mount point (/mnt/zip2) would be created, and an appropriate entry added to fstab. I didnt know why it was happening but read that there may be problems with supermount, so I changed the fstab entry for the zip disk to something that made more sense. Anyway that seemed to fixed it and my zip disk was mounting fine. However, later when I tried to write to the zip disk I get an error "Writing to devices is not supported". I also get this error when I try to write to the floppy.
I doubt me changing fstab broke anything, because when I change it back to what it was before, it still displays the error. It also creates the new mount point as mentioned above.
The writing doesnt work when I try any Copy and Paste method from menu, or using shortcuts. However, if I open my zip disk in one window, and do drag and drop from another window to the zip window, and select Copy, it works fine.
Also cp works fine.
It is a weird problem eh.?
Any1 got any suggestions?
Thanks,
Latem
