No Taskbar or K ikon.
Hi everyone.
I'm a new user to KDE, so please excuse me if I don't use the right names for the window components. hehe :? Anyway, I totally love the KDE interface, but I have a problem maybe someone can solve. I don't have any taskbar or "K (Start Menu)" icon at the bottom of my screen. The only thing on the screen is a trash icon and a home icon. I recently built my Linux box... it's running slackware 9.1. I selected KDE as the default "windows" when I was installing. If someone could guide me as to how to get this working that would be great. I can't access any of KDE's applications or tools.
Thanks!!!
John
Seems that Kicker, the panel, is not running.
Try starting it:
ALT-F2
type kicker
ENTER

thanks for the quick reply.
Unfortunately when I try to run kicker nothing happens. the file kicker in /opt/kde/bin only seems to be 3.4kb. That seems a bit small to me. Any suggestions?
so I tried running kicker from a console window. It comes back with "segmentation fault". That doesn't sound too healthy.
The size would be ok.
Press CTRL+ESC and check if a stale kicker instance is still running somewhere.
If yes, kill it
