KDE 3.2 & Suse 9.1

Hallo,
in my SuSE 9.1 linux box, I have both KDE 3.2 and Gnome 2.4.
I have a problem of coexistence between the two desktop.
The icons of gnome desktop are displeyed in KDE also... but the shortcuts can't be used....
Both desktop use the same "userhome/Desktop" folder...
Are the two system compatible?
