ok this was fixed by moving ~/.qt to somewhere else then qt could compile properly.
Now I'm past that hurdle freetype errors in qt by manually updating freetype2 from src on woody so I could get past freetype errors on kfontinst I now hit the arts compile section of konstruct -
checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 3.2) (library qt-mt) not found. Please check your installation!
For more details about this problem, look at the end of config.log.
Make sure that you have compiled Qt with thread support!
now I would hope that konstruct is looking in ~/kde3.2.1/libs/
where libqt-mt.so lives but it can't seem to find it I have to change my KDELIBS etc as outlined in the readme to the ~/kde3.2.1 install before the arts compilation would continue
more when the next bit crashes
