Significant performance loss with kde 3.2

Hi,

has anyone else experienced a significant loss of performance after having installed kde 3.2. I've got a 1Ghz Athlon with 680MB Ram and now with 3.2 my system is about 40% slower ! After all the former updates (3.0->3.1->3.14) I've never had such an effect.

Has KDE adopted the windows-strategy, where you need to buy new hardware everytime you get a new version?

Any Ideas where the problem might be?

cheers

I don't think so, some people says that kde3.2 is faster than kde3.1, I am not quite sure, I believe they are as fast. But I haven't run any benchmark.

You may try to delete (or move) your ~/.kde directory and try to see if kde is running faster. In fact it's a good idea to have a fresh config directory after an upgrade.
