KDM on 3.2

I've tried fresh CVS installs of KDE 3.2 twice now and both times the KDM gets completely thrown outta whack. It loads up fine, but when I try to log in it just goes to a blank screen and pops up with the KDM again. This happens regardless of what WM I choose.

Anybody know why this happens?
