3.1.4 corrupt after distro upgrade

I have just upgraded from Slackware 9.0 to 9.1 and now KDE takes 4 times as long to load and exhibits some very odd behaviour eg. when using konsole, hitting return after entering a command results in one of my desktop icons being executed (as well as the command). It is only my login that is affected, my wife's works fine. I'm putting it down to not rebooting after the upgrade using swaret and my kde profile becoming corrupt. Is there an easy way of resetting things without losing all of my settings?
