Movies in Linux
I have Linux Red Hat 9.0
Tell me please with what program can I watch movies in Linux. And where and how can I start it?
chances are that there is nothing substantial already installed for you.
use either xine, or mplayer.
however, compiling them will take a while.
before you compile mplayer, make sure you get all of the codecs first so that you are able to play the newest videos such as Sorenson 3 Video.
you can also use vlc (http://www.videolan.org), and no need to compile it.
you probably have not looked at this post, for a while but you can download rpms for nightly builds of xine including lib-css (for decrypting dvds) and install them easily in rh9 ( not a big fan of rh myself, KDE mangelers)
disclaimer: it may or may not be legal in your country,
just google for xine with css
cheers
I was there .....
If you want to play DVDs make sure DMA is enabled for your DVD drive or else it will be choppy to watch.
