If I was you I would do the upgrade, but I would like to do it the easies possible way so I suggest you have a look at.

http://konsole.kde.org/konstruct/

Download the http://konsole.kde.org/konstruct/konstruct-20030624.tar.bz2

To make the installation easier make sure your system is connected to network.

#<location>/bzip2 –d konstruct-20030624.tar.bz2
#<location>/tar xvf konstruct-20030624.tar
#<location>/konstruct/meta/everything/ make install
then
#<location>/konstruct/meta/kde/kdebindings/ make install
then if you want arson
#<location>/konstruct/meta/apps/arson/ make install

This will simply download anything it needs to compile your new KDE. Bear in mind that if it is a system that is being used by multiple people you may have to install it as root and edit the configuration file to get it installed in i.e. /opt/kde3.X.X

IF the installation fails to file a required file or to download it, just type make install again and it tries to continue the installation. GOOD LUCK
