newbie: need to install KDE3 from SuSe distro on Debian

Hi.
I recently happen to obtain the SuSe (8.0) distro and now would like to install KDE 3 on my Debian (woody)... Frankly, I have no idea how to install and configure it.

Any comments are welcome.

welcome to debian

first, since your using woody i dont think you'll find the latest KDE packages in the official debian repository. instead you'll need to follow the directions from the source, the kde website.

add this to your /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://download.kde.org/stable/3.1.2/Debian stable main

then do the command: apt-get update
then apt-get install kdebase, and the other kde packages.

Still, I dont have, well... a good internet, and wonder whether it is possible to install KDE from rpm taken from SuSe distro. Can I tune the apt to upgrade from a CD pack?

Well, apt-get can use CDs, but they have to be prepapred for that (correct directory structure)

And you would need Debian Packages.
SuSE packages are way to different, especialy the dependency information.
It would very likey break your Woody system.

There are a lot of linux-sites that offer cheap custumized Linux cd's.
You can request such a site to create a kde debian cd for you.

Check if there is a site for your country.
