Upgrade to KDE 3.1 in Slackware 8.1
I upgraded to KDE 3.1 via Kpackage utility in Slackware 8.1. Now on the desktop most of the icons and text are missing inside the windows and on menus. How can I fix this? Should I have upgraded via a different method?

Did you download from slackwares CURRENT? They have kde 3.1 in thier Current build. 1st download all the packages that slackware has in thier Current/Slackware/kde folder. Then as root type pkgtool in shell. do Remove, find and remove all kde packages you see. Then after it removes the old kde crap to best insure you will get the new one. Make sure you are in the same dir as the files you just got and you can run pkgtool and do install all packages in current dir, or at prompt type installpkg *.tgz. I hope that gets you up and going. it should.. later!
