Vera font with Qt/KDE

I tried to install the preview of the Vera font package (http://www.gnome.org/fonts/) on SuSE 8.1. In the KDE font installer the Vera fonts are anti-aliased in the preview. But not when used in the font selector or any KDE application anymore. Any idea?
