running app icons on kde task bar too small on ubuntu 9.10

After applications (e.g. firefox, gvim) are started, their icons are displayed dynamically on the kde task bar on the bottom of the screen. After applications had exited, their icons will disappear from the kde task bar.
The kde task bar which length occupies about half of width of the screen are too short (normally task bar should occupies the bottom of the whole screen), which makes the running (dynamic) app icons on the kde task bar too small.
The non-running (static) app icons on the kde task bar are big enough to see.

KDE version is 4.3.2 and kubuntu is 9.10.
