Upgraded to 4.4 (FC11), problem with console font

Hello.
Tonight upgraded my FC11 to KDE 4.4. Many settings were dropped, but managed to restore them one by one, except one - my font throughout ALL KDE apps was console8x16. Now it almost(!) does not work.
I can choose it in Settings->Appearance->Fonts, but it is not displayed (one of some 30 attempts succeeded, but was lost after restart).
In apps, sometimes it works: kdevelop editor - yes, but kate and kwrite -- no; kmail message text - yes, folder list - no; etc...
Mostly - it is not displayed.

What has changed in 4.4 so strange?
