[Solved] Adding dictionaries - Region & Language / Spellchecker.
Some time ago I found a very useful tutorial on the net explaining how to go about this.
Unfortuantely for me I've inadvertantly deleted the bookmark.
Having just done a fresh install of my favourite KDE4 Distro sidux to take advantage of a number of changes I find myself faced with the need to do this again.
I'm able to change the country where I live under the country selector and that's it.
I am not able to add additional dictionaries.
Clicking on the "Add Language" button in "Country/Region & Language" only dispays the the two default languages that are installed.
Similarly under "Spellchecker" there is no functioning method to install additional dictionaries.
Any advice or practical information will be gratefully accepted.
Cheers.
Edit:
Problem solved after much more searching, and reading.
As it turns out I am now able to choose my spell check language of choice, having now installed open-office and the requisite dictionaries for that.
It would have been a much less frustrating excercise had I the most suitable dictionary been made available with the initial change of localisation.
Being a relative new comer to KDE and never having used KOffice, I'm unsure as to whether installing it instead would have helped or not.
Who would have thought that by installing a non KDE app with it's dependencies would have fixed this????
Perhaps the in future Sonnet will make all this redundant.
Cheers to all who dropped in and had a look at the post, even though you weren't able to offer any help at the time.
