How to Setup File Sharing in KDE

I have Kubuntu 9.10 with KDE 4.3 installed and I am trying to setup a folder to be shared over the network. I right-click the folder, then go to Properties. Then, on the Share tab it says:

Quoted

You need to be authorized to share folders.
I click Configure File Sharing button. A prompt comes up for my password. I enter password and then nothing happens. I click Configure File Sharing button again and nothing happens. Any suggestions?

kdenetwork-filesharing

I had the same frustration.

Source code

1
sudo apt-get install kdenetwork kdenetwork-filesharing
worked for me. Not sure if you need both of them (I'm almost certain the -filesharing part is the meat here), but it shouldn't hurt.

How to Setup File Sharing in KDE

I am trying to get KDE file sharing to enable. When I go to kcontrol as a
normal user, then go to 'Internet & Network -> File Sharing',
and click the "Administrator Mode" button, it prompts me for my
password.

When I give it my password, it just goes back to the default start
screen for kcontrol, with a brief summary of my system information
(kernel, KDE version, etc). When I give the admin mode button the root
password, it does the same thing.

How can I enable file sharing within KDE?
