app launcher configuration

Hi Folks

can anyone point me to some instructions on how to modify the layout of applications in the app launcher?
I think it has something to do with the "Catagories" parameter in the files in /usr/share/applications (I'm using openSuse 11.1)
I don't seem to be able to get my changes to work the way I expect

example:

GoogleEarth shows up under Applications/Internet/Other Programs
I'd like it to be just under Applications/Internet
the extra level is just a time waster to me
What should the Catergories param look like?
now it's

Categories= System;Network;
