Hey,
I recently started using Kubuntu Intrepid (8.10) with the standard KDE 4.1.2 release. I like it a lot, which is surprisingly since since the beginning of my linux use (with my tectra 8000 series with a 10GB HD and 256MB of RAM) I was a hardcore GNOME pusher.
Anyways, I like everything about KDE except that it has major stability issues IMO, and I didn't even touch 4.0. Anyways, plasma had a melt-down on me today and I lost all the widgets on my panel and all the widgets on my desktop reverted back to their original size and to the upper left corner.
Is there any way I can "back up" the settings file for the widgets? So in case plasma has a melt down again and I reboot I can just re-import the settings file or folder? I don't want to add all the widgets to the panel each time plasma crashes and then re-arrange my widgets on my desktop and resize them and all. I hope one day it'll get to the point where I don't need a plan for "when" plasma crashes, but KDE has always been a little unstable IMO compared to GNOME.
Any help in the matter would be greatly appreciated.
PS: I'm not sure if this is 100% the correct forum to be posting this...nothing else really met the criteria of "general help" or something of the sort in the main forum, so sorry if this is wrongly located. Where should general help questions go?
PPS:
I attached the plasma crash doc (even though it means nothing to me). Perhaps somebody could tell me why it crashed so I can try to prevent that in the future. I can tell you it happened as soon as I right clicked on the trash and hit "empty trash" -though that's all.
