Customize KDE4

Hi there,

until recently, I used KDE3, which was just fine. It scored over Gnome and Fluxbox because of it's superior focus stealing prevention technology. With KDE, I could start typing a text, and by the end of typing, the windows still had the focus.

Now KDE4 was forced on me by a release upgrade of ubuntu. It did not import my KDE3 Settings, and I am still trying to figure out how to customize it.

First of all, I seek a bar which disables any effects, like in KDE3. I have no use for them
Then, I want my Taskbar to be on the top of the screen and ranging over both screens. This was easily doable in KDE3.

I already figured out how to put the K-Button in Classic mode.

Thank you for your help!

I am confident I will get used to KDE4 soon ;-)

First, which version of KDE 4 are you using? KDE 4.0 is very different from 4.1 which is very different than 4.2 almost-beta. Second, do you want to disable all effects, or only taskbar effects? Finally, I do not think the taskbar can stretch across the screen in any version, but the other two are completely doable, but how you go about doing it has changed over the last year.
