Newbie has lost the toolbar

Hello everyone,

I seem to have lost the toolbar at the bottom of my screen. When I say 'toolbar' I'm referring to the panel from which applications can be launched and desktops switched ect.

I can reach the control panels and applications at the moment via a widget, but its not ideal.

I don't know whether or not this has anything to do with my installation, or whether it is a configurable setting that I can't find.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you're not the only one...
i have the same problem
it seems to happen if you change the theme settings (or are part way through changing them) then reboot, or restart x server (ctrl + x + backspace)

a fix for it is here:

but i really wish the devs would fix it. KDE 4 has been out a while and its still not fixed.
