Firefox without border

Firefox without border

Hi,

I have this really wierd problem. When I launch firefox it runs but without the border (I think they are called window decorations). This is annoying because it means the buttons at the top left corner are missing. I can't close, minimize or maximize normally. Now usually I attribute this to compiz screwing up but the wierd thing is that all other programmes work fine. They all have their borders.

I am running KDE4.1 and and I run Compiz Fusion (I think. It just worked automatically when I installed KDE4.1).

Is this a KDE problem? Does anybody have any idea why this is happening?

More infos needed

it is hard to figure out, which of the 1000 reasons might be the right one in your situation. Maybe some questions first:

- which linux distro do you use?
- which update repository do you use for kde4.1
- when was your last kde4.1 update?
- were there warnings reported and if: what did you do then?
- Is firefox the only application with this effect? what about thunderbird or others?

Hi,

Sorry I should have mentioned all that information earlier. I run Arch Linux with KDEmod installed. Arch is a rolling distro so all my software is up to date with the lastest stable versions. KDEmod is KDE tweeked for Arch Linux. I use the KDEmod repositories namely the "core" and "extragear" ones.

When I run firefox there are no warnings. I also tried running firefox in safe-mode and that didn't make any difference. Thunderbird works fine. I also tried changing the firefox themes but that didn't really change anything.

Firefox is indeed the only application with this effect. Its really wierd. I stumped. ?(

I discovered that this is most likely a FireFox problem. I changed my composite manager from Compiz to Kwin and problem presists. Therefore it must be a firefox problems.
