Toolbar disappears *poof*

Can anyone please help enlighten me on this? I installed KDE 4 and was able to log in, everything was just fine then for some reason the toolbar disappears and I am left with the icons on the desktop to open programs etc. It does not help when I minimize and the program is on the toolbar where I cannot access it. I am a new to Linux and a Windows convert so any help (in non-penguinese) would be greatly appreciated.
