HowTo upgrade from 4.1 (from 3.5) on Fedora9 - having problems.

I have a customer that requires a project on Fedora9.

I downloaded Fedora KDE Live Media i686 from fedoralinux.com thinking this would
be a fast track to the latest KDE (4.1) with everything installed but was wrong,
so I am posting here on how to upgrade to 4.1.

---
First of all is there a Fedora9 KDE 4.1 spin that I can download? I have very limited time, juggling
multiple projects.

---
If there is not a Fedora 9 KDE 4.1 spin, please help.
I simply need step by step instructions in order to upgrade
from 3.5 to 4.1 on the latest Fedora 9. It does not seem as simple as
using a package manager to uninstall 3.5 and install 4.1.

It seems a bit involved requiring special knowledge and command line judo.

---
I searched and found billions of documents on upgrading
KDE but none were specific to my needs. It was very confusing given the number
of documents out there. There was a lot of help offered, but not the right help for this situation.

I did find a command I could run to rip off all 3.5 packages so I did. My
system still booted to KDE 3.5 even though I did this with no desktop (just
at the console).

I also installed all 4.1 packages from a graphical package manager and rebooted
and still have 3.5.

---
I am looking for instructions on how to upgrade to 4.1 the easisest and fastest
way possible. I have limited time.

Also I would like to clean my system of 3.5 packages and config files.

---
I have already spent 3 hours working on this but it should not be that hard.
This is my fifth time in 10 years trying to make the jump from Windows to
Linux on a project. In past tries it was always a hardware issue (video, sata chipset etc) so I shelved it and tried back two years later only to have another serious problem. I really want to make it a success this time but I have limited time.

---
I am looking for a Fedora 9 from 3.5 to 4.1 specific solution.
